April 3, 2020 - Leica Biosystems has received additional notification from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) that the Aperio ImageScope DX Viewer with images acquired on the Aperio AT2 DX Scanner can be used for remote diagnosis under emergency use. This application will allow pathologists to safely view and diagnose pathology cases from remote locations in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Leica Biosystems is providing the following resources and references in an effort to support customers interested in validating digital pathology for remote use during the COVID-19 Emergency. It is the responsibility of clinical laboratories, hospitals and other healthcare facilities to consider performing a validation study as they deem necessary before the implementation of digital pathology for remote reviewing and reporting of digital pathology slides. These references may not meet all the requirements for validation. Therefore, it is the customer’s responsibility to validate their individual equipment set-up and clinical intended use, to meet institution’s needs

Currently, all our production sites are operational. We are closely following guidance from international health organizations and local governments to ensure the safety of our associates as they continue to produce essential product.
Our Service associates are following our business continuity plans to ensure the safety of their customers and teammates. They will follow all customer protocols related to personal protective equipment aligned with CDC and WHO site risk levels.
We will continue to monitor the situation in the coming days and weeks. If you require further detail about product supply, please reach out to your Leica Biosystems representative or visit the Contact Us page on our website.
Event and Conference Participation
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our participation in all face-to-face tradeshows and industry events until further notice. We will communicate about future virtual event opportunities via email.
