Leica CM1950 Cryostat Features

Enhanced Cooling properties

With the new DualEcoTec system the Leica CM1950 cryostat offers an improved instrument cooling with faster cool down and an enhanced temperature stability of both cryochamber and specimen. Use these added benefits to boost your frozen sectioning experience.

Fast Freezing of Histology Specimens

Fast freezing and stable mounting of fresh tissue helps to produce high quality frozen sections. The Leica CM1950 cryostat uses specimen discs with deep groove design and a flat stem surface facilitating a rapid freeze-down on the freezing shelf. The two integrated Peltier freeze stations ensure an efficient workflow and speed up freezing by reducing the temperature even more with just one touch.

Stable Cool Air Circulation

Long frozen sectioning sessions are demanding for user and instrumentation. The combination of DualEcoTec and CryoZone cooling systems creates a more stable cool air zone in areas of the cryochamber which matters. These advanced technologies provide a cool air zone around the specimen, blade and anti-roll guide, to help sustain these critical components at the right temperature for a longer period.

Reproducible Frozen Section Quality

Leica Biosystems blade and knife holders provide stability and quality when sectioning a variety of samples, including large or hard objects . The CE blade holder accommodates both high- and low-profile disposable blades and can be moved laterally to utilize the entire blade length.

The Leica DB80 precision-engineered blades are validated to work with the CM1950 instrument blade holder to enable quality sectioning.

The optional CNZ knife holders support various reusable knives, especially for hard objects.

Reduce Environmental impact

The Leica CM1950 cryostat with DualEcoTec cooling technology uses a refrigerant with close to zero global warming potential to reduce environmental impact. The instrument is engineered to improve energy usage, resulting in up to 50% reduction in power consumption when compared to previous Leica CM1950 cryostats models.

Ergonomics for long cryosectioning sessions

The optimized height and off-center microtome help with finding an ergonomic standing and sitting position without the need to adjust the instrument before starting your work. The combination of armrest and knee space distance, along with the adjustable footrest and height-adjustable chair, make occasional long sectioning sessions more comfortable.
