Leica Biosystems Collaborates with European Society for Digital and Integrative Pathology (ESDIP) to Support Labs on their Way to Digital Evolution

Leica Biosystems, a global leader in pathology workflow solutions, becomes a diamond sponsor and announces the start of a collaboration with the European Society for Digital and Integrative Pathology (ESDIP) to promote digital pathology adoption across Europe.

"Building bridges between industry and academia is essential to furthering the work of a scientific society. The European Society of Digital and Integrative Pathology is delighted to welcome Leica Biosystems, a longtime member of the European Congress on Digital Pathology, as our closest partner to advance digital and integrative pathology through education, research and clinical practice for the next two years." - David Ameisen, ESDIP Industry Liaison

The main objective of ESDIP is to support the key role of Pathologists by Integrative Digital Pathology initiatives. With this sponsorship, Leica Biosystems aims to support Anatomical Pathology laboratories on the way to digital evolution.

Speaker - Catarina Eloy, ESDIP President

Discussing the adoption of digital pathology with the ESDIP board of advisors, it becomes clear how the ESDIP mission matches Leica Biosystems Digital Pathology approach.

"The mission of the European Society for Digital and Integrative Pathology (ESDIP) is to foster digital and computational pathology to enable its application in research and clinical routine diagnosis. The major challenges to be addressed are lack of standardization, recurring efforts for workflow integration, and knowledge dissemination, as well as regulatory topics. Overcoming these objections can only be achieved by joint efforts in an open, constructive and trustful collaboration of leaders from industry and academia. To that end, this partnership with Leica Biosystems is outstanding." says Norman Zerbe, Vice-President of ESDIP

As the only company in the market to own the workflow from biopsy to diagnosis, Leica Biosystems is uniquely positioned to break down the barriers between each of these steps and enable the pathology laboratory to embrace digital pathology in their workflow.

The mission of “Advancing Cancer Diagnostics, Improving Lives” is at the heart of Leica Biosystems corporate culture. The easy-to-use and consistently reliable offerings, including digital pathology solution, help improve workflow efficiency and diagnostic confidence.
